Craft Juice Tuesday - week 7

It's Tuesday so it's time for my picks of the week from Craft Juice. And this week, because I have been feeling so rough, its a little cheer-me-up post! It's a good job that I'm feeling better today as the next available appointment is a week today at the GP's!!!

I've felt so bad that I've done virtually no crafting and have got a mountain of 'things' to be getting on with!

Anyway, here are my favourites from Craft Juice this week - just click on the pictures to be taken to their CJ listings:

Fantastic little trumpet brooch from BirdCageCreative.

This is actually soap!! But you wouldn't want to use it - well, I wouldn't - I'd just look at it!! From SoapyBlessings.

Hehehe! This bag says it all!!

Warning! It's Very Yellow!

It's my last time as Guest Designer over on the Simple Doodles challenge and I've really enjoyed my time and the warmth and generosity of the team - so thank you!

The new challenge for the coming fortnight is:

Layers

I've used the very cute little duck freebie image, coloured him with felt tips and then layered him onto bright yellow card from the Scrap Store and an off cut of white from my stash.

I've used a Nesties die to do the cutting and a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the texture. The orange ribbon is also from the Scrap Store. A little bit of doodling around the edges and the card is complete!

Hope you are able to join in with the challenge - you can use any digi image you want although there are lots of freebies to be found on the Simple Doodles blog!

  • Dies: Nestabilities and Cuttlebug embossing folder

Polkadoodle Challenge Week 12 - Sketch & Theme

Good morning! It's Friday again so another Polkadoodle challenge! This week Nettie has set the challenge and it is to use the sketch below and only the colours black and white plus one other of your choice.

Not quite as easy as it sounds but the Design Team have created some really stunning items!

For my sample, I've used Love and Cherish cd and the wonderful chandelier image that I really should use more as it is so elegant. It's been dabbed with liquid pearls for a bit of extra depth. I've cut it using my only set of Nestabilities dies and layered it onto some shiny red card. The black cardstock is from my stash along with the two ribbons.

The little red flowers are from my stash and are so tiny but very sweet! If you look closely at the red ribbon, you'll see it sagging a little. All due to the fact that I didn't stick it down well enough under the image so when I stood it up to take the photo it came loose...... grrrrr!!!
Good luck if you decide to take on the challenge - you have until Sunday 4 April at 12noon GMT to enter and please remember the number of challenges you can enter your Polkadoodle card in is 9 others.

Cool Dude

A great sketch for the current Sketch and Stash challenge:
I've used a new digi image which comes pre-coloured from Alison Sloan which I've layered onto plain green, black and blue cardstock with the patterned card from Dreams Come True from Funky Hand. A little bit of card candy (quite impressed that I had matching colours!) and the sentiment is a freebie acrylic stamp that I got from the front of a magazine a while ago.

The image also came with a summer themed one too so great for all those awkward teenager boy cards!

  • Image: Alison Sloan
  • Printed papers: Dreams Come True from Funky Hand
  • Plain card: My stash
  • Sentiment: Freebie stamp
  • Card Candy: Craftwork Cards

Celebrating

It's been a while since I entered a Forever Friends challenge and whilst sorting through my stash I came across a pack of decoupage (quite frankly that I'd forgotten I had!) and it fitted the current sketch challenge perfectly! The backing paper is from Paper Boutique from Polkadoodles, which I've rounded the edges and inked. The image is a ready cut decoupage and I've layered it up with 3d foam pads.

The sentiment was also from the pack and I've added some white / silver gems for additional bubbles. The ribbon is from my stash.
A nice quick card to make so I don't know why its taken me over a week to blog! Plus I'm now using Firefox as my browser at home and it doesn't always do what I want it to do....... typical! And the mouse downstairs has a mind of its own..........!!

Craft Juice Tuesday - week 6

Another Craft Juice Tuesday! And this week, I've gone with a colour theme of yellow!! I've got a sweet digi image of a duck to colour for a project and the colour is filling my mind! Click on each picture to be taken directly to the Craft Juice listing.

Wonderful bold zipper pouch by Antiquebasketlady

This yellow flower is made from polymer clay (why do mine look like lumps?!) by adrianneaudrey

Hmm, two little purses in one post? I think it's because I'm also becoming obsessed with storage, boxes and putting things away! Buy from dinkydaisy!

See you next week for some more Craft Juice Tuesday! It's free to register and once you have you can submit your own crafty creations and vote on the items that take your fancy!

Sweet Baby Girl

Sometimes when I see a sketch I know exactly what I'm going to make! And this is such a lovely sketch to follow! It is the current challenge for Moving Along With The Times, plus it is an open theme. I've made this sweet new baby girl card using a sheet downloaded from CraftsUPrint which is really versatile as I managed to make two cards from it! The main image has been printed onto white linen card and then layered up with foam pads.

The image has been layered onto a nesties shape and I've dotted 3d silver paint around the edge and lettering using my Cuttlebug Baby Face die.

Cream organza ribbon and pink satin ribbon from my stash along with an acrylic dummy.

Aliens Have Furry Yellow Legs

A great challenge this week over on Charisma Cardz:

Something For The Kids

Now I don't usually struggle when it comes to making cards for boys, I seem to have problems with girlie ones. Probably because I think in blue and greens with having two boys!! I've made this alien card from a digi sheet bought from CraftsUPrint (yes, I think I'm becoming addicted but there are some really fab stuff if you look!)

I've added a black background and done a little doodling around the edges and simply layered up elements with foam pads, a little bit of glitter glue some wobbly eyes and a gold star on the space rocket.

And yes, aliens do have furry yellow legs. Didn't you know?!

  • All card elements: Digital sheet from CraftsUPrint
  • Black backing card: My stash
  • Everything else: My stash

Frosty Doorhanger

I've had this door hanger kit for a while and have been wanting to make it but not yet had the chance. The ABC Christmas challenge currently is:

Frosty with the added option of Snow

So I think my double sided door hanger fits with the challenge! This is a digital door hanger which I got as a freebie from Alison Sloan but you can also buy it from CraftsUPrint. I've printed the sheet twice so I could layer up some of the elements onto 240gsm ivory linen card and added an extra layer in between for additional stability.

The snowman and little boy are layered and I've added glitter glue to the bottom of the snowman, so it looks like glistening snow! A little bit of glitzy gold ribbon and the door hanger is finished!

  • Door hanger kit: Alison Sloan
  • Ribbon & glitter glue: My stash

Polkadoodle Challenge Week 11 - Sketch & Theme

It's Friday again so time for another Polkadoodle Challenge! This week, Nikky has set the sketch along with a theme. The sketch is below:

And the theme is to use only the colours blue and brown. There are some wonderful Design Team samples, so pop over to the Challenge Blog to have a look and also to enter the challenge. Please remember that you can combine your Polkadoodle entry for 10 challenges but no more if you wish to be considered for a top three spot.

For my sample, I've used the new cd Paper Boutique along with the A6 sized car which I've just used the front elements and decoupaged them. The round sentiment backing is also part of the same collection and I've used my Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet to create the letters.

The 'ribbon' is actually upholstery off-cuts which I got from the scrap store! I've had to glue the edges to stop the fraying, but I think it looks pretty good as bloke ribbon!

The challenge is open until Sunday 28 March at 12noon GMT so hope you can join us!

  • All paperbased elements: Paper Boutique cd from Polkadoodles
  • Sentiment: Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet
  • Ribbon: Scrap Store

Lateness

A Bugaboo challenge with probably my favourite digi stamps at the moment equals a good evening of card making!! The current challenge is this sketch:

And I've used one of the freebie stamps from last Friday - which I presume is the white rabbit from Alice In Wonderland. I've coloured him with watercolour pencils and layered onto raspberry pearlescent card, beautiful chocolate pearlescent card and some silver pearlescent paper that I had in my stash.

The 'wobble' bit underneath the chocolate brown satin ribbon has been made by punching hearts from the same coloured card - easy peasy to do!! And a little bit of card candy to the side. A great card to send if you are like me and remember Birthday's just a few days too late (despite making herself a Birthday Book, but has not written in it......)

Backing paper is from A Work In Progress and I can't remember the collection off the top of my head but its one that has been retired.

  • Papers: A Work In Progress freebie download plus oddments from my stash
  • Image: Bugaboo Freebie coloured with watercolour pencils

Just Us Fellas

The Dare U 2 Digi Stamp challenge this week is:

No Patterned Papers

I've made this really cute card largely with scraps of left over card and my Swiss Dots embossing folder. The image is from CraftsUPrint and is part of a card sheet which you can view HERE (and see my finished example!) I thought it would make a lovely Fathers Day card.
I've simply cut out the image and added it with foam pads to the blue pearlescent card with gold outer - cut using my Nesties. I've added a small piece of corrugated card and some jute string. The card stock is from my stash (I didn't know I had it!) and I've doodled the line around the edges.

  • All card: From my stash
  • Image: CraftsUPrint
  • Dies: Swiss Dots embossing folder and Spellbinder Nestabilities

Enviromentally Friendly?

Another challenge which asks for a green theme!! This is for the Incy Wincy challenge and the theme is:

Green

Now, this card was actually made for a different challenge a week or so ago but I had a little miscommunication between me blogging it and my brain so it wasn't blogged and I missed the deadline! So I think it still works for the Incy Wincy Challenge!

The printed paper is from Scrappin' Serenity and was part of a free download digi kit and i've simply inked the edges. The green frame is from my stash and I've also inked the edges of that. The sentiments are computer generated and the gems are from my stash. Don't know if you can see them, but I've also added a few seed beads for bubbles from the glass.

The image is from Bugaboo and I am really liking their quirkiness - really appeals to my sense of humour!! I've coloured it with felt tips (these images call for strong colours!) and a bit of glitter glue.

Apologies for the colour cast on the photo - that's the result of taking photos early in the morning (about 6:30am) because it is now light enough - yeah!! But I couldn't correct it no matter what I tried. Ah well!

  • Backing Papers: Scrappin' Serenity
  • Image: Bugaboo coloured with felt tips and glitter glue
  • Sentiment: Computer generated

A Wobble Card!

There are quite a few challenges at the moment which have a green theme (possibly because it is St Patrick's Day?!) My first one is for Fussy and Fancy and their challenge is:

Green

Now, in case you are wondering, the card is called a wobble card, because, it wobbles!! I bought the sheet as a download from CraftsUPrint as I thought it would be ideal for Samuel's teachers when he moves up classes in the summer. See how organised I am?!! I just have to make a few more now!All the elements are from the A4 sheet and I've layered up the different bits as shown in the next photo. All I've added is the sentiment circle and the organza ribbon. And a bit of doodling and inking around the edge.

This was a really easy card to make although it looked a little daunting at first! You can buy the sheet HERE and also see my completed card as an example!

Craft Juice Tuesday - Week 5

It's Craft Juice Tuesday once again and here are some of my favourites from the site! Just click on the pictures to be taken to their Craft Juice listing. I've decided to feature one particular user this week - Polka! Lovely bright colours to brighten up your day!

It's free to register on Craft Juice and once you are, submit your craft creations and the whole wide world can vote on them!!

Cowboy!

Another fab sketch from Carol for her challenge:
And all the elements are there - you just have to look for them!! This is another of the downloads I bought from CraftsUPrint - you can see my completed card here where you can also buy the sheet to print. Really quick to make - simply cut out and add the embellishments that come with the sheet.

I've also added glitter on the gun and spurs and also on the two sheriff badges plus I've added the jute string as a lasso!

Saturday 13 March 2010

Ahoy!

The current challenge for Die Cut Dreams is:

No Flowers Allowed

And there is absolutely no flowers what so ever on my card! I was actually making something quite different for the challenge when I happened to pop by CraftsUPrint and a number of shaped card sheets jumped into my shopping basket!

This particular one was really easy to make and it is double sided. I've simply cut the shape out then layered some blue card behind the image and doodled a line around the edge. I've added a gold jump ring as an earring and also a chest of treasure and some gems. The head is decoupaged and has been added with foam pads.

Really simple! And if you want to buy the sheet to print yourself, it is only 80p and can be found HERE. And you'll see my sample card too!

Show A Little Green!

I was so pleased to be offered a Guest Designer spot for March on Simple Doodles and this is my first offering for the month! The challenges run alternate Saturday's so you have plenty of time to get creating!

As the name suggests, they are lovely simply drawn doodles - all digi - which are a joy to colour in! There are lots of freebies that you can collect along the way and the one I've used below is one of the freebies.

Anyway, the challenge for this fortnight is:

Show A Little Green

And I've tried to be 'green' also by using up bits from my stash rather than cracking open a new paper pack or printing more! I've even used a green card blank! The big spotty green paper is from It's Funky Too from Funky Hand, the circle star paper is from Kelly-Jo Scraps, the metallic green (used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder on it) is from my stash, and the smaller green panel is from Patti Picklicious.

The image has been coloured with felt tips, and I've used some jute string to finish it off. I am liking this little dino so don't be surprised if you see him again!!

Pop over to the Simple Doodles Challenge blog for more details on how to enter - and if you do - good luck!! You can use any digi image but it would be nice to see some Simple Doodles ones - and there are loads of freebies!

Polkadoodle Challenge Week 10 - Special Birthday

It's Friday again so time for another Polkadoodle challenge! This week Fliss has set the challenge and it is to:

Celebrate a special Birthday or Milestone

I've used the brand new Polkadoodle cd Paper Boutique and the cute boy car printed as A5 size. I've added the sentiment to the number plate as you can see!

This car is actually really good as you could use either the front or the back and you'd never know - its not an obvious back, if you see what I mean! All elements are really easy to cut out and layer up onto 3d foam pads.

The cars come in different sizes; A4, A5 and A6 and even a little tiny one that prints both sides onto A4 for toppers. You can embellish all you want or use the printed sentiments that come with the cd.

Please note that the limit of challenges that you can include your Polkadoodle submission is 10 (including Polkadoodle) and that the closing date is Sunday 21 March at 12noon GMT via the Polkadoodle challenge blog. Good luck!
  • Paper Boutique cd used for all elements

Alternative Easter Bunny

I do like a simple sketch - easy to think about and I don't have to do any faffing. However, I made the mistake of colouring the image first and then trying to hunt through my bits n bobs box for papers to match.... But I think I pulled it off!

This is the current Sketch Girl challenge:

Papers are from Funky Daze and they were just the right size for the card blank! I've layered the image and the centre panel onto black card so it stands out a bit more. The image is a freebie I got as part of the 50/50 Stamping Group and is from Bugaboo.

I've coloured it with felt tips with a little bit of sparkle here and there. It's a fab Easter Bunny, don't you think?! The black organza ribbon is from my stash. A little bit of corner rounding and some enthusiastic black inking (got a new black inkpad for the very purpose of inking edges!) and the card is complete!

  • Backing papers: Funky Daze from Funky Hand
  • Image: Bugaboo, coloured with felt tips and glitter
  • Ribbon: My stash

Gifts & Balloons

Just about in time with this challenge card too! The Simple Doodles challenge currently is:

Paper Piecing

I've used acetate for the front of the card - dotted the line around the edge (so you can see it) with a Sharpie marker.

I've paper pieced the gift and balloons which is a Simple Doodles digi image - printed two images the same size onto different papers and then cut them out! I've used papers from Funky Hand - Shabby Saturday download and printed them off at approx A5 size as I wanted a small pattern.

I've added a little glitter to the spots on the gift and have used wire for the balloon strings as there was no way I was trying to cut round the drawn strings!! Quite a simple card, but I like it!

Pop over to Simple Doodles on Saturday for the new challenge where you'll see my Guest Designer post as I am a Guest Designer for March - whooo-hooo!

Have a Whale of a Time!

A little later than intended with this one - I made it over the weekend and should have blogged it yesterday but forgot...

This is the sketch from Carol's Fun Sketches Challenge: And this is my interpretation. I've used papers from Funky Hand but these are the charity papers that you cannot buy directly from Anice but were part of a fundraiser for Rett's Syndrome. The little whale plaque I bought last year and have just found it and I thought it was perfect with the papers!

The anchors are a punch and I've added wire through the top to finish them off. Looking forward to the next challenge and I'll try and be a little more organised!
  • Backing papers: Boys and Girls collection from Funky Hand
  • Image: Polymer clay plaque from my stash
  • Anchors: Punch - unknown name

Bird House

Inktegrity has launched a brand new challenge and their first ever is this sketch:

I've used the image from the 50/50 Stampers Group which was pre-coloured. I printed it three times and layered it up. All the backing papers are from my stash with the printed one under the image from It's Funky Too from Funky Hand.

The ribbon is from the Scrap Store and as I have plenty of it I was generous with the bow!
  • Plain backing papers: My stash
  • Printed backing paper: It's Funky Too from Funky Hand
  • Image: Inktegrity pre coloured
  • Everything else: My stash

Craft Juice Tuesday - week 4

It's Craft Juice Tuesday again! And this week I've gone for a bit of what I fancy! I must show a chicken as Lynsey had some very good news last week! So well done chick! Hehehehe - gedit?! Click on each photo to be taken directly to the Craft Juice listing.

Now every home needs a chicken and who could resist one as cute as this?! Made from recycled and re-purposed materials - get it from Swirly Arts!! Think this one has gone to a new home - but there are more in her shop!

Now I do like buttons and these are fabulous! All hand made from porcelain clay by Hodgepodgearts
A beautiful mixed media artwork from Gracie's Garden Bazaar - this is the first in a series of 14 originals
See you next week for some more Craft Juice Tuesday! And in case you are wondering, CJ is free to join and free to submit your handmade items where the whole wide world can vote on them! 5 or more votes and you make it to the front page!

A Green Morris Minor

I sometimes get some strange requests for cards but I see these as a challenge! I'd been asked to make a Driving Test Congratulations card but it had to show a green Morris Minor car.....

So I followed the Aly's Sunday Challenge sketch:

And made this! Backing papers are Funky Hand - Minty Madness download as it matched the image of the car. I found road sign images and printed these off small and added them as per the sketch. The car has been added with 3d foam pads onto an acetate circle and the sentiment has been added with a strip of acetate too - written with a Sharpie marker.

Hope she likes it!

Polkadoodle Challenge Week 9 - Wings

It's Friday again and another Polkadoodle challenge! This week Brenda has set the theme which is:

Wings and some stamping!

I've used one of the owls from Paper Boutique but only printed the front elements. There are quite a few layers as you can see from the photo underneath! I've used the A5 pre printed template but you can print it out onto your own papers if you want.

The card base is also from the same collection as there are a few backing sheets to go with each shaped card. And my stamping is from the Daisy Doodles set - such a great little stamp to make a border!
Good luck with the challenge - you have until Sunday 14 March at 12noon GMT to enter and please link your challenge entry to a maximum of 10 other challenges to be eligible for our top three and a prize. Link your creation via Mr Linky on the challenge post!

  • All paperbased elements: Paper Boutique from Polkadoodles
